Claude Cazals Cuvée Carte Blanche - Nv

Unit Volume: 750ml

Cultivars:
Pinot Noir (50%)
Pinot Meunier (40%)
Chardonnay (10%)

Nose: The aromas on the Carte Blanche are at once fresh and herbal, with hawthorn and acacia notes.

Palate: The nose follows through to the palate. Invigorating and tightly tangy, this Brut ends in a subtle note of bitterness.

Notes: Ernest Cazals, a cooper from the south of France, moved to Champagne where he met his wife. In 1897, they founded the Cazals house in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. Since then, three generations of wine-growers – including Claude Cazals, inventor of the gyropalette – have followed each other at the head of the winery. The estate is now run by Delphine Cazals. The 9 ha of vineyards, all planted with Chardonnay, are located in 4 villages from the Côte des Blancs, south of Epernay: Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger, Oger, Vertus and Villeneuve. Clos Cazals in Oger (3.70ha) and a few plots in Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger are ranked Grand Cru. The others are ranked Premier Cru. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and underwent malolactic fermentation. The bottles rested on their lees for 24 months in the cellar. Then, after disgorging, it rested again in the cellar for another 3 months.

Cuvée Carte Blanche
Claude Cazals Cuvée Vive Grand Cru Extra Brut - Nv

Unit Volume: 750ml

Cultivars:
Chardonnay (100%)

Nose: The bouquet is nicely developed, complex character of apple and citrus, hints of chocolate, nuts and crackers.

Palate: Very fresh and clean with nice mousse, good apple touch, the dry and delicious finish is long with clean apple tones in the finish.

Notes: The estate is today run by Claude’s energetic and engaging daughter Delphine who – while continuing to focus almost entirely on the excellence of Blanc de Blanc in Le-Mesnil, thanks also to her nine hectares of vineyards – has given a personal touch to production and shown how she has a great sense for balance even with a more daring bubbly like Cuvée Vive. This is the only Maison Claude Cazals Champagne with an Extra Dry dosage, used to bring out the elevated, expressive purity Chardonnay can achieve in that soil. It is a Champagne with dazzling definition in regard to its precision and great vivacity in the richness of its many sides. Delphine's father, Claude is the legendary inventor of mechanized remuage with the ‘gyropalette’. The grapes are pressed pneumatically, because the wine fermented at 18-20C in temperature-controlled steel tanks.

Cuvée Camille Bonville Brut Blanc de Blancs
Gosset-Brabant Noirs d'Aÿ Brut Grand Cru - Nv

Unit Volume: 750ml

Cultivars:
Pinot Noir (100%)

Nose: The nose alone is worth making a special search for this wine, as it is so headily expressive and full of character. While it carries a deep, concentrated richness, it's also extremely fine in tone, with tightly-knit aromas of blackberry, cassis, raspberry and dark chocolate, shifting in elegant layers of complexity as it opens in the glass.

Palate: The palate carries a similar feeling of depth and refinement, feeling ample and confident as it stains the palate with its pure, poignant fragrance.

Notes: Sitting meekly across the road from the grandiose cellars of Bollinger, in Ay, is a great artisanal grower called Gosset-Brabant. The estate takes its name from founder Gabriel Gosset and the maiden name of his wife, Brabant, to avoid confusion with the rather better known house of Gosset. The Domaine, today run by Gabriel's sons Christian and Michel, comprises 10 ha of vines, mainly in Ay, but also including Mareuil, Dizy and Chouilly. This cuvee is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes from vines on the south and south-west facing side of Ay, hence the name Noirs d'Ay. The wine spent 36 months on the lees.

Réserve Brut Premiere
Moussé Fils Cuvée Opale Blanc de Blancs - Nv

Unit Volume: 750ml

Cultivars:
Chardonnay (100%)

Nose: Crystal clear and bursting with floral aromas, this champagne is a veritable hymn to Springtime.

Palate: On the palate there’s a wonderful freshness that highlights the aromas so expressive of the terroir of Cuisles, followed by a long finish which is a sheer delight to the taste buds.

Notes: A grower since 1750, Champagne Moussé sits in the village of Cuisles, in a valley perpendicular to the Vallee de la Marne. Cedric Moussé is the 4th generation winemaker. In the vineyards, he adheres to a ‘lutte raisonee’ approach and in the cellar he works almost exclusively in stainless steel. Cuvée Opale is an unusual champagne in that it is made in small quantities using grapes from a single plot (Les Varosses) in Cuisles. Cuvée Opale is aged for 48 months in the cellars. Disgorged in March 2013.

Moussé Fils Cuvée Brut Rosé - Nv

Unit Volume: 750ml

Cultivars:
Pinot Meunier (92%)
Pinot Noir (8%)

Nose: Being made almost entirely with Pinot Meunier means that this rosé is extraordinarily fresh and fruity.

Palate: The dominant aromas are of red fruit: wild strawberries and redcurrants, whilst on the palate the wine is round with lots of length.

Notes: The Moussé family has been making champagne for 4 generations. Their love of Meunier is almost palpable. They’ve even come up with the catchy and very apt slogan ‘Deeply Meunier’ to express a commitment that goes as deep as the vine roots. This Rose is made by assemblage, not saignée, meaning in fact it’s made with red wine from Pinot Meunier grapes and aged in oak barrels for 15 months. The grapes for this champagne come from 4 villages: Cuisles, Jonquery, Olizy and Châtillon sur Marne.

Cuvée Brut Rosé
Moussé Fils Cuvée Anecdote - Nv

Unit Volume: 750ml

Cultivars:
Chardonnay (100%)

Nose: Bursting with fresh, floral aromas - this champagne is a veritable hymn to springtime.

Palate: On the palate there’s a wonderful freshness that highlights the aromas so expressive of the terroir of Cuisles, followed by a long finish which is a sheer delight to the taste buds.

Notes: Cuvée Anecdote is an unusual champagne in that it is made in small quantities using grapes from a single plot in Cuisles. In Champagne the title « Les Varosses » is used to define a place where they grow low quality grapes. But 25 years ago, they discovered that this place is composed by a really deep soil. That is why they decided to plant Chardonnay grapes in this plot. Cuvée Anecdote is aged for 36 months in the cellars.

Unit Volume: 750ml

Cultivars:
Chardonnay (100%)

Nose: Refined nose combining lemon then grapefruit notes after swirling with white-fleshed fruits and a delicate pastry note.

Palate: Explosive and spherical on the palate, the 2009 exudes richness, with plenty of the radiance of the year on display. The palate shows a seductive silky texture and an opulence counterbalanced by its ethereal character.

Notes: The high percentage of old vines at this Estate sets it apart in a region suffering from a plethora of very young vineyards. Seventy percent of Gimonnet’s holdings are over 30 years old, of which some forty percent are over 40 years old, with 100+ year old vines in the lieux-dits of Le Fond du Bateau, planted in 1911, and Buisson planted in 1913, both in the Grand Cru village of Cramant.
